[UPDATED] 4.0.3 AOSP V3 W/GAPPS + WALLET - RootzWiki

Ported from AOSP.

Currently there are some bugs, but expect an update later tonight to bring it to 100% functionality.

Users who flash to 4.0.3 are reporting an increase in buttery smooth goodness.

This flash will also have Verizon apps removed. It's OS only. Their is a download for a Google Apps bundle to throw back in to the phone if you flash to this.

NOTE, you will lose Root if you flash to this, but simply redownloading SuperUser from the Market and running it will fix that, and thus you'll be rooted again.

Easy Peazy.

Been following that thread at rootzwiki... patiently waiting for the bug fix tonight (hopefully) before I flash, everyone on it says 4.0.3 is pretty slick indeed... Can't believe I've had this phone over 24 hrs and haven't flashed anything yet ;)

Yea, I'm waiting for the updates tonight before I try it out.

Though maybe come Monday we will get an official release? I saw the front page news about a "surprise" from Google coming Monday.

They still need to work out some minor fixes with the camera FCing if you try to use any of the funny overlays. I'm not sure if calendar syncing has been fixed either. Once that happens I'll be in as there is also a custom kernel for OCing/UV

Can this be run as an update, or will it wipe the phone?

No it will probably brick if you try to run it as an update (guessing kind of)... since this is an AOSP build. Its recommended you do a full wipe (data/cache/dalvik) then flash it like a fresh ROM.

I installed TBH 4.03 and it works smoothly. I haven't found any bugs. I can't find anyone discussing it on the forums, but it seems to work well and has wallet included. Anyone else out there try it?

Besides the speed tweaks and a lot of other good in 4.0.3... one of my favorite things is the browser improvements... I wanted badly to like the stock gnex browser but it was just lacking so I went back to dolphin. Now I'm so happy with the stock browser in 4.0.3 I uninstalled dolphin probably for good.. the quick thumb options or whatever they're called are soo improved and bookmark access is as smooth and easy as it needed to be from the get go.. loving this :D

Awesome. I think the browser honeymoon if over for me as well. It's fast as hell to load pages, but laggy as hell to scroll and zoom (and really unresponsive to touch).

Can you check and see if the bookmarks page scrolls smoothly now? That really buggs me. Also, what about scrolling and pinch to zoom on The Verge's full site?

Scrolling and pinch zoom are as smooth as anything.. and I just checked out the non mobile verge site for you and it was fluid and smooth ..very impressive. And that was on 3g too (I'm out of town in a 3g only area now)

Where can I download 4.0.3 that has nothing added or taken away ?

Idk but don't let the thought of roms scare you.. whatever is taken out or added is generally for the best and there are ton of rooms out there, each of which in the first post will tell you what's added/removed/tweaked/improved... just go for it. I highly recommend droidth3orys zygot3 1.8 rom... you won't be disappointed :)

4.0.2 browser was horrendous in areas. That seems to have been fixed in 4.0.3 and is much smoother and better rendering throughout. And like the above poster stated the new quick controls are nice. Not as extensive as tablets but much better than 4.0.2. Quick controls make other browsers boring.

I'd like to have a stock 4.0.3 for now just because I don't want to have to set everything up again (I'm lazy and picky about my settings, home screens, etc).

I tried loading the AOSP images but despite it seeming that the flash went okay it left me on 4.0.2.

*upon further review, I'm a putz...I uh, can't read numbers on my computer it seems.

Does 4.0.3 separate ringer and notification sounds by chance? I figure probably not, since they were already working on it before it was a widely reported problem. But a man can hope!
