If I am reading a web page, and want to go to a new web page by manually typing in the URL, it would seem that I should be able to click the address bar and easily remove what is there and type the new URL.

But, when I click the address bar, it highlights the URL briefly and then puts the cursor (with nothing highlighted) where I clicked.

Since the URL is almost always bigger than will fit on the screen, I am forced to constantly tap, delete back to the beginning, tap near the end again and delete back until it all goes away.

There has to be a better way! Right?

I have noticed the same thing. Haven't found a way to highlight entire url and replace it with the new address.

Its a lot of extra steps but the only other option would be to long press the address.. select all.. and cut. Then type in the new address. I just use the cursor.

That's what I do too. But I find it very quick. I just scroll the current page down which makes the URL field appear, long press the URL field (highlighting it) and hit the backspace arrow on the keyboard which errases it, and start typing the new URL.

Odd, I just scroll down and select the address bar. It then pops up the keyboard (SwiftKey) with the entire address highlighted and I can just type in the new address. I'm using Dolphin 6.1 beta but I tried the stock browser with the same result... Except the new address opened in Dolphin since that's my default browser. Stock TB btw.

Hmmm... that's interesting. I'm using Dolphin Browser and Smartkeyboard. If I'm in portrait mode, I can touch the address field and it will be highlighted and then I can just hit backspace to erase everything or just start typing.

But.. if I'm in landscape mode and touch the address field it just places my cursor at the end of the url and I have to sit there and backspace everything.

I'm always in landscape mode so never really noticed its easier to just use the portrait mode for entering text in the address field.
