Going from 2XL to 4XL set-up and transfer of apps/pictures/messages/etc

So, my new 4XL is arriving this afternoon. I want everything that is on my current 2XL on the new 4XL. Do I set up the new 4XL, and get it completely operational, and then hook up the 2XL to it, and transfer everything via the USB cord and the Quick Switch adapter? Or what? I imagine that the 4XL will probably need some software/firmware updates as well. I just want to do things in the right order.

On your 2 XL, go to Settings>System>Backup and make sure that's on. Tap Back Up Now to make sure it's current. Then, when you set up the 4 XL, it should ask if you want to set up using a previous phone -- pick that backup.

You should be taking advantage of Google Photos backup in the first place, especially since you still have unlimited original quality backups on the 2 XL. If they're backed up to the cloud, then you can easily access them from the new phone (or any other device logged into your Google account).

Thanks, B.Diddy. Everything is backed up. (Both System and Google Photos, which I have been doing all along.) I followed the on-screen directions, once I turned on the new 4XL. Everything has been copied from the old to the new phone. It was very easy. I'm amazed. The new phone is now updating all of the apps, which will take a bit. I'll post again after that is all completed. Very anxious to give the new 4XL a go. Thank you very much for your response.

The Copy Data, etc. process from the 2XL to the 4XL (via USB cable) went flawlessly, and didn't take very long at all. Of course, the 4XL had lots of app updates, as well as Security updates, which was a bit more time consuming. All in all, the 4XL is working very well so far. Not having the finger print sensor will take some getting used to.

It's a very good phone. Persevere and you'll soon be used to it.
