First off I know I won't be able to use my phone in cancun..... Even if it worked prices would be INSANE I am guessing.

Question is - can I hop on wifi with it and Skype or make phone calls? If so what do people think of viber? I have Is there any other good apps like viber?

Also any good apps I could use while I'm honeymooning ?

Get a free Google Voice account and then install one of the apps that let's you use it to make calls. You can then make/receive unlimited free calls and texts over WiFi.

Google voice, not talk. And there certainly isn't any other service that offers unlimited free calling/texting plus your own phone number.

How does google voice work internationally? I assume he would have to sign up for a local number in Cancun?

For example I have a US google number, and if i am in europe and someone calls my google number would it be routed to me?

Yes. Your Google number works everywhere. Worked fine for me in Europe and Japan.
