Going to iPhone6?

That's true. The only device where I don't mind the hardware Button is on the iPhone. It's such high quality, and TouchID is implemented so well. It's also very responsive. But one day, Apple may have to change their design. I'd be interested to see how they do.

Touchwiz is really the main problem. And yeah, they're not changing that any time soon. They just need to lighten it up....like a lot. It's got some great features, but they're far and few between all of the gimmicks and try-hard software features scattered about their phones.

Why do you dislike the hardware button?

Just a side note about touch ID for anyone interested -
A US law enforcement officer can legally compel you to touch your phone to unlock it. You cannot be compelled to divulge a PIN that's in your head. 5th ammendment.

I've got nothing to hide. Just like Android users give up all their privacy to Google.

I am getting less impressed by the iPhone 6 by the day. This phone is a year older than the Nexus...this should not even be comparable, nevermind the nexus beating it. The fact that the Nexus 5 is no longer competing with the 5S (now it's competing with the 6) at all says a lot.

I'm surprised you were even the least bit impressed with any Apple products.

I'm really not. I don't think they're awful (hardware-wise), but they are not the 2nd coming everyone seems to think they are IMO. The only thing I am still impressed with is their cameras...they do have excellent cameras.

A just-released $700 phone should not be competing with a $350 phone from a year ago.

I'm actually pretty impressed a dual core CPU clocked at lower speeds and 1gb RAM is almost as fast as a 2.3ghz quad core CPU with 2gb RAM.

Please delete.

You can delete messages by clicking on "edit" then the "delete" button below the message. You have to click the "delete message"radio button below that as well to actually delete the message...and finally clicking "delete post" after that (I don't get why they need this extra step either).

They limit themselves with that hardware...they are doing it to preserve their profit margins. They could add more RAM if they wanted (for example), and increase performance, but they refuse to. All because of profits.

When you are locked in to an eco system, they only have to give you the bare minimum you will put up with. This is why a closed system is a bad thing. It severely limits competition and allows the vendor to screw over their users like this.

I suggest you actually read the Google TOS.

But to save you the bother of replying, I'll go ahead and finish this conversation for you:
I did read them!
Suuuure you did buddy. OK so what did you take away from what you read?
Google has entered an unholy pact with mysterious men in black suits to give them my data so that they can steal my soul and replace me with a doppelganger of course. All iPhone users know this.
Gotcha.

Its more to do with battery life and when the iPhones were stupidly small, they probably couldn't fit everything in them without making it thick.

Its not though. People compared the S5 to the 5S, is that fair too?

You got issues talking to yourself like that. You think Google doesn't collect information to sell? How do you think they make money off Android which is free? How do you think those Google Now cards know what your interests are and where you've been or where you want to go or when a package arrives?

Mike Elgin the other day called targeted advertising one of the most useful forms of monetization. I tend to agree. Now I get news stories served to me on Gnow that are relevant to my interests, I've discovered new authors to buy books from, saving me a lot of time pouring through Amazon and Goodreads, and have bought items for home I previously never even knew existed.

Neither Apple nor MS have managed to accomplish this for me while at the same time providing me the services of the most featured and powerful mobile OS on the planet. There's no Men in black knocking on my door or strange vans parked outside my house because of it. Maybe you listen too much to Julian Assange's rants to see that.

I'm not sure whether you're male or not, but for arguments sake let's say you are. Do you get this indignant about a kotex commercial on TV or the radio every 15 minutes? Probably not, even though it's totally irrelevant to you, yet you seem pretty upset about getting ads based on things you're actually interested in.

Why shouldn't it be comparable? The Nexus 5 is still the current flagship for Nexus devices, no matter how old it is. Tech is changing quickly but a year shouldn't be THAT much difference. The iPhone is still keeping up, just. The Nexus 6 should pull away a bit. The fact that the N5 is cheaper than the iPhone also applies for pretty much every Android flagship. Yet the Nexus 5 beats them too. So it's not just the iPhone that should apparently be doing better.

The real problem is that the iPhone and the N5 can both beat another android flagship by a full minute. Now we know that the S5 is slowed down a lot. I'd like to see more comparisons against other Android flagships. The Nexus don't sell as many as they should. How does the iPhone compare to other flagships? We've seen the M8 and the S5, probably two of the most popular, and it beats them.

I have no issue admitting an iPhone can score higher on a benchmark test than a flagship android phone. I think that's fairly reasonable.

Good luck finding an iFan who is willing to be equally reasonable about admitting android OS has more features and capabilities though. They're like unicorns.

Who here denied Android has more features than iOS? I use both and know Android has more features and capabilities than iOS but I also like the more polished apps and reliability of iOS.

Is an iFan a fan of Apple? Or are you talking about a fanboy/ iSheep?

I consider myself a fan of both sides and I don't have a problem admitting anything about either.

I definitely know some ignorant Apple users :D Very annoying. But, the same goes for the Apple haters/Android fanboys.

I'm not seeing reliability as the case in present day android. Well... Maybe in some manufacturers. Not in the better ones though. As for app polish I also have a 5s and a mini retina. I'm not seeing what you're seeing. I've had my fair share of crappy coded crashing apps there as well.

I'm multi platform as well. People like you and me don't fall under what I call an iFan. To me that's a person who doesn't actually have to be a "fanboy", which is the worst extreme on any platform IMO, but is simply someone who outright refuses to consider buying anything unless it's made by Apple. A fanboy vocally hates anything non Apple, but an iFan just refuses to acknowledge anything can do better than Apple.

Where do I fall into this? I acknowledge that due to Apple controlling both hardware and software design, they have slightly less issues than android devices. On average. That margin grows or shrinks depending on the manufacturers. For example this year I would totally feel comfortable saying that Sony mobile division has totally managed to equal Apple as a quality producer. I've always been a big admirer of the perfectionism of the Japanese industrial culture so this doesn't surprise me.

But I do currently prefer android to iOS for mobile operating systems.
