wondering if anyone has tried any golf gps apps and could offer a recommendation.

Have plenty of backup batteries! apps are good but they will absolutely smoke your battery.

Larry,

There is another thread on this site that covers your question. http://forum.androidcentral.com/htc-thunderbolt/71777-golf-gps-recs.html

I used to use Intelligolf on my palm and it is still my favorite app. I am pissed they have not ported it to Android in the last 2 years.

Last year I used Golf Card Pro. I liked it, but it is no where near the functionality and stats tracking of Intelligolf. However, mid year they switched from oobgolf.com to ushandicap.com as the place you upload all your rounds to do stats tracking. oobgolf was free and ushandicap has an annual cost.

I used Golfshot.com when I had my iPhone. It ain't cheap but it worked really well (assuming I had a damn AT&T signal) and had every course that I ever played in four separate states. When I did find a third 9 hole course in Wisconsin that they didn't have mapped, I scanned and sent in a score card as requested. They had it posted within a week.

You will drain the battery fast so plan on a few spares or the 2750 extended.

I also have SkyDroid on my phone right now to try out before I commit to rebuying the Golfshot one as my iPhone ownership doesn't transfer.

I'm partial to golflogix personally. Ive used their handheld unit and also had it on a bb storm. Very accurate and have yet to play a course that they haven't had. On the storm it drained the battery really quick but with my new tb I've really noticed that battery usage isn't bad at all. Played 9 today in about 2 hours and had Pandora running probably a third of that and was only at about 75% from full charge. Their stats feature is also a really nice feature

golfshot hands down, thirty bucks but well worth it as it replaces a 300 dollar device,If you don't need to keep awesome stats and a scorecard then skydroid is terrific for only 2 bucks and skydroid also is faster than golfshot at giving yardage

(Your golf) is a grat app for free. I have not used it for gps though it does give you yardage. I use it for greens in reg and putts I am a 2 handicap and it shows you the parts of ypu game you need to work on I highly recomend it.
