Thank you for everything you have helped me with. I have had my thunderbolt for about 1.5 years and was sick of it. I had to move on to the Galaxy Nexus. Let me just say this baby is way better IMO. Look forward to maybe seeing some of you guys in the Galaxy Nexus forum. Bye and thanks again :)!

Thunderbolt has been out less than 9 months.

I have had my thunderbolt for about 1.5 years

That is so wrong......

I was just reading some blogs on the new Nexus. A lot of people are upset over the poor build quality.

No matter, in the middle of next year, after you have had the nexus for 2 years, you can change it out.
:D

Samsung is terrible

Terrible? Aside the initial GPS issues and slow updates, I loved the Fascinate I had. The first seems to have been fixed and the latter is a non-issue since it's a google phone. Everyone is going to try to defend their purchases since they have a good amount of money invested but blindly hating a phone is just silly.

I hated my Samsung Fascinate.
Hated it.
The touch screen was not very sensitive. A bit annoying to press and use the keyboard because you had to press a bit hard. It varied with heat.
The touch buttons on the bottom were worse. Then when the phone would get hot, the touch buttons would start self activating and the back-light would blink.
When using it in the car on charge, the phone could use more power then any charger could supply. So with the display turned up, the battery would slowly die, even on a high rate charger.
All the while doing this, the phone would get hotter and hotter. The touch buttons would go spastic. The phone would shut the charge down. Then the phone would turn off.
Of course, that was all assuming you could ever get the GPS to work in the first place, which was a real challenge.
And the loudspeaker, a cruel joke to say the least. And you know the charge and notification LED. THERE IS NONE. Are you serious!
All of this in a petite cabinet that felt like a fragile cracker that I was going to break any minute.

Verizon and Samsung confirmed that all of this was 'normal'.

My previous HTC WinMo phone never had any issues like this. My Thunderbolt is nearly flawless. Well, there is that peeling kickstand. What a total failure. :D

one again i say terrible

the only thing samsung should make it tvs

they make crappy phones, except for the screens which are small tvs!

lol

Sounds like you had a lemon. Only one of those issues I had was power drain while running nav with the screen on if I used it for 45min+ or so but I've had that happen to pretty much every android device I've had (OG Droid, Fascinate and Thunderbolt). Believe they just get to the point of being so hot they quit charging. The GNex has a solid feel and feels a lot better in the hand than the Fascinate did and maybe even moreso than the Thunderbolt. The flimsy battery door does boggle my mind though. That said, after looking at it, I still left with the Thunderbolt in my pocket. Upgrade isn't until May and ICS just wasn't worth paying $300+ and 2 years on an extra line when I'm 100% satisfied with the phone I have at least not today anyways. Maybe I'll change my mind tomorrow. lol

they make crappy phones,

I'm sure a lot of people would disagree. They don't have the best selling line of smartphones for nothing.

I had a SAMSUMG OMNIA and a i760 they both where solid phones. My son's first cell was a samsung clamshell thing...went through the wash, fell off a car on a country road and someone called after finding it...thing looks like hell, but after 7 years, still fires up (if it is charged).

Like I said in another thread...my Ex-wife and her husband both got NEXUS'S yesterday. I will ask her what she thinks. I even told her about this forum and all the good information. Her husband is a techno geek and is interested in ROOTING.

He came from a iPhone and she came from the oriinal Droid. I don't know what she will think of ICS after coming from Froyo.

How can u say I liked the omnia. It was a garbage phone. The touchscreen sucked and the user interface was the worst version of touchwiz ever created.

I didn't say I liked the phone...I just said it was a solid phone that to this day, still works. My son uses the OMNIA as a Video camera because his phone doesn't do Video. It still connects to WiFi without issues.

Also, I only owned it for 9 months (April of 2009 to Jan. 2010)....I loaded a custom ROM on it...acutally it was Adryn's (Team BAMF). I had hopes for the WinMo platform...but that was at the time when VERIZON was locking everything down....had to use VZ Navigator, there was no Google voice....once I went DROID....there was no turning back.

that's amazing that you had you Tbolt for 1.5 years. no one else has had it for more than 9 months. I wish you would explain how you managed that.

I can see where it could seem like 1.5 years. But you know some just have to have the latest. I'm convinced I have the greatest. Thunderbolt forever.........well at least until the quads come out.

Sorry, I just have to high-5 you for that one. ;-)

(nervously watching my Bolt for grey hair ...)

Every Samsung I have had was horrible. People love them. Others hate them. I love HTC
