Good External Microphone for Note 2?

I do some simple voice recordings for work that I DEFINITELY waste too much time on making them sound professional (but it's fun). In the past, I used Audacity on my Ubuntu laptop w/ a USB headset and got surprisingly great results (at least in my eye).

I was thinking that the Note 2 definitely has enough power to do this and be even more portable. I tried two different USB headsets w/ my USB OTG cable and had no luck.

Does anyone know of an external mic solution that can be used w/ the Note 2? I'd love to be able to have an entire recording rig in my cargo pants...

Check bh photo video. I am thinking that any lapel microphone with a 3.5 jack should work. Just the nature of the lapel microphone will eliminate 90% of your ambient noise.
