Good mail app for Yahoo mail

I've been using the stock S5 mail app for my Yahoo mail but would like to try another app. My main priority is speed in retrieving new emails (the stock app is frustrating me lately), and ease of use in attaching and sending pictures and/or video.

I asked something similar when the phones were pretty new, I'm hoping there are more recommendations now that they've been out longer.

Thanks in advance!!

The apps are still the same - people don't write apps for one particular phone.

As far as speed, that's usually a combination of two factors - the load on the server and the load on the path between the server and your provider. Any app, even a badly written one, can retrieve emails faster than you can read the titles. (I still use Email [the old one with the red @, because the yellow one won't run on my Note 3, even though the older version did, and because I prefer the one I'm running. No problem with Yahoo email - but I only get one once in a while, since that's not my primary, secondary ... it's my "lastary" email account.)

Thanks for the info.

I was curious if people were using different mail apps that work well with Yahoo Mail and were easy to send pictures and video.

I started having issues with the yahoo mail app a few weeks ago and I had no choice but to combine up my yahoo with the blue mail app that I was using for my aol. I usually prefer that all my emails use different apps, but blue mail works great and it's easy to navigate between both email addresses.

Not sure about using blue mail for sending video because I don't do that, but I have no issues sending pics.

I've been using BlueMail for about 7 or 8 months with Yahoo.
What I like about it is that it will access all of my sub-folders on Yahoo.

I have sent a lot of huge files thru Yahoo email, all of them went thru just fine.

but, my upload speed on WiFi is the pits, but that is not the phone's fault.

Yahoo Mail has an 'app' on the Play Store. U might have better luck with your mail using the app rather than the generic mail app.

Try CloudMagic too. It works really well for me and according to reviews many others.

I uae the gmail app now for yahoo mail. Starting a few months ago, the Gmail app addsd support for adding non google mail accounts.
Before that I used MailDroid which was great except occasionally it would cause large battery drain for unknown reason.

My only gripe with the Gmail app where I can access my Yahoo email is the fact I can't see my spam folder. I can see all the other folders but spam. On occasion, some important emails fall into spam which this feature is important to me.

Thanks, all. I tried the Yahoo app in the past and didn't like the ads that popped up. I'm on day two of BlueMail and like it so far, it's WAY faster than the stock app. I'm happy to learn that gmail is an option as well so I'll check it out.

+1 for Gmail. Agree that the lack of spam folder is at times troublesome but overall the Gmail app is way better than the yahoo mail app.

Yahoo's email app is nothing more than a blanket advertising campaign.

And, it is not anywhere near as good as BlueMail or CloudMagic

So far I like BlueMail but I think I'll give Gmail a try as well just to see.

Thanks!

gmail is unstable...

I just wrote last night about how unstable it is.

for reasons unknown, it will stop syncing with the phone,

and for reasons also unknown, the web gmail page will not display incoming emails.

This issue went on for me for months, no amount of writing to Google about it ever once elicited a response from them.

Their calendar won't sync with the phone reliably....

I finally just deleted it off the phone, installed Blue Mail and have not looked back.

Bluemail has not once, in 8 months ever lost anything, and it always syncs up with Yahoo mail perfectly.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll stick with BlueMail because I actually like it so far. I get my emails a lot faster than I did with the stock app.

I too tried the Gmail app for other email accounts and found that it would not send/forward messages on occasions. I ended up using myMail, which has a very similar look and feel to that of the new Gmail. I have not had any issues with myMail; I currently run 5 email accounts with it.

I too used myMail for a time while I was downloading and trying out all of them from PlayStore. Ran them in tandem to see how each tickled my fancy.

Bluemail won, myMail was the next to last hold off for deletion... finally decided I didn't need two "good email apps" and stayed with Bluemail.

Bluemail works so much like Mozilla Thunderbird and the default Yahoo web email app, that it won out at last.

apps are such a personal preference thing, it is not always which one is technically better, just more appealing "to the user"
