We all know by know HTC is making a nexus this year, the HTC 10 is amazing, i have an S7E by the way so no fanboyism but there could be 2 nexue devices this year most likely, huawei filed the name for Huawei 7P, which is either a tablet or a flagship nexus. Huawei has been killing hardware, using better hardware than samsung with there new P9. Either way from HTC or huawei, the next nexus will be amazing seeing how the HTC 10 is and how good huawei phones are now adays.

I'm eager for the HTC 10 (been chomping at the bit for something like this for a year now) and was wondering, what usually comprises a Nexus? Any reason I'd want to wait for the Nexus? The 10 is pretty much what I'm looking for but if you think they'll do something extra in the Nexus I may wait and see...

Nexus gets their updates direct from Google and have zero addins to Android. They also skip the SD slot.

After seeing the HTC 10 and finding out that they might be making this year's Nexus, I'm so f'n excited to finally upgrade my LG Nexus 5 to one of the Nexus phones this year finally. Was going to get the HTC 10 but I so want another Nexus. I neeeeeed more info...

I neeeeeed more info...
Well, we all need that since no one has confirmed any of the rumors re. HTC and Google yet. Incidentally, the only one of those rumors that I hope gets squashed is the one about Google dropping the max display size to 5.5" from 5.7".

Thanks. The above info, and the possibility that it might have a larger screen, sounds like it's not for me. I'll go with the 10.

Larger screen might be from the company Huawei while the other might be from HTC.

If Huawei trademarking 7P turns into an even more improved 6P, this 6P will be up for grabs this fall. And honestly, there's not much this 6P needs to improve on, hardware-wise. Give me a 4000 mAh optimized battery, a screen size of 5.7 to 6", front-facing stereo speakers and OIS for the camera, and it'll be perfect.

I'm also excited about the new Nexus. Because that means the price of the 6P will plummet significantly and I can pick one up to replace my 6.

@ BOWIE, You might want to wait for the new Nexus, if you're interested in Project Fi & don't guzzle your data. So that's kind of your call there.. I don't really see flaws with the Nexus 6p other than it's on the bigger side.

Sites are saying that the Nexus 2016 is could be coming out at the end of quarter 2 (next couple months) or also October. I'm crossing my fingers for sooner, but the 6p came out at the end of September so I wouldn't be surprised if it came or later rather than sooner.

Certainly no earlier than August. G's timeline for Android N runs through July and locates a "Final Release" version sometime in Q3. And they're not going to release a new Nexus anything without a final release candidate for N.

Whenever it's coming out, the 2016 model is now looking a lot more interesting because of this tidbit from reddit:

One important note about Wi-Fi calling in Snapdragon 820: it's significantly enhanced vs. previous generation in Snapdragon 810 and 808.
Whereas previously only Wi-Fi signal strength was taken into account to decide whether or not to switch to/from Wi-Fi, now the IMS client software in the X12 LTE modem monitors interference levels, media metrics (e.g. voice jitter), Internet backhaul speed, as well as Internet reachability (damn captive portals!) to decide whether or not to switch the call. As you know, the Wi-Fi RSSI could be very strong but the network is slow or overloaded, so we're much smarter about transferring the call now.
AnandTech captured a quick video of our demo at the 820 launch event last november: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZRwMwcqbLM
You can see the call switching back and forth between LTE and Wi-Fi as we increased and decreased the Wi-Fi interference level.
It's significantly better than the first-gen IMS client. Enjoy :)"

The handoffs between WiFi and cell have always been a little laggy on my N6 (MM and N). It's good to know that new modem tech might make that a thing of the past. As long as nobody messes with display sizes for the 6P's successor, I'm gonna want one.

Much appreciated. Def going to go with the 6p based on the incredibly helpful advice I received from everyone. Thank you!

I may go to Japan next month or so and I was thinking of Google fi with maybe the LG or 6p but now I've heard this news.. Should I wait or just get the LG or 6p which one do you think is better also. I do love HTC.. I'd so get the new phone they just came out with but that's not on Google fi unfortunately. I just wanted to get fi cause they don't charge rediculous amounts for over sea's Data.

I'm still using the Nexus 6. Upgrade is coming up though. Anyone think it will have the water proofing capabilities like the s7?

From Nexus 6

Very weird how it's being called Nexus 6P on the benchmarked spec sheet. Definitely seems like a typo.
