Good pouches/ slip covers?

I'm the kind of person that dislikes cases, in general, because I like being able to actually see my phone, rather than covering it up with some kind of bulky case. But, I've just gone through a very painful ordeal with Verizon due to my Galaxy Nexus having a crack underneath the screen (which I don't *think* I caused in any way, but I could be wrong). So, I have a new Nexus, now, but I'm incredibly paranoid about getting another such crack in it.

In another topic, someone brought up the idea of using a slip cover/ "pouch", so that the phone is protected while in your pocket, but can easily be removed for use. They brought up the Sena brand pouch, and I took a look at that, but it seems a little thin, which makes me question how much protection it would offer. It was also mentioned that two other brands (Beyza and Fortte) would likely be making such a pouch/ case for the Nexus, but I kinda want something ASAP, yanno? Heck, I have to work tonight, and it's going to involve a bit of physicality, and I'm going to be worrying the entire time that I'm going to crack my new Nexus. :/

Buy a nice plush sock. It's what I do. It's not stylish (although I have a green pair awaiting me :D), but it's quick and it affords enough in pocket protection. Plus, it's easy on all materials. I have my GNex in an Otterbox Commuter, and then I slip the whole thing into the sock and then into my fleece's pocket. No worries about extraneous pocket debris, no worries about it falling out, etc.

I'm looking for a more permanent solution (I'm on the fence with screen protectors), but for now this is doing just fine.

Also on the fence re: screen protectors. I've had some in the past (Zagg / Invisible Shield) and found the rubbery surface and orange peel affect endlessly annoying. I understand that some of the high end protectors like this that use the same or similar 3M plastic (originally made to protect leading edge of helicopter blades, etc) are still somewhat rubbery / tacky in use, and most have the subtle "orange peel" texture. I've read that a couple of brands do NOT apparently use the same plastic, but use something else very tough that is more glass-like in place, i.e., no orange peel, no rubbery feeling. Might be a good idea -- I just like the current "naked" glass surface enough so that I'm concerned the experience with an SP on just wouldn't be the same...

That said: I've got an Incipio two-part case on now (from VzW) -- silicone with hard-plastic backing plate, and I place the phone into a pocket that is otherwise completely empty (no change, no keys, etc, etc). Gets a bit linty though, and not the most convenient at all times. If I could find a case that I like, that makes it easy to slip the phone in and out but doesn't lend itself to dropping the phone, I'll probably keep the glass SP-free, and might even consider removing the Incipio case. I trust the phone in hand -- and just need a safe place to easily stow it away and easily answer it, while keeping it safe from damage...

Eh, I'm not so much concerned about scratches, more so than I am cracks. I don't drop my phone, either, but I'm sure even bending down the wrong way can snap your screen if you're not careful; I figure at least some kind of slip cover might give it some impact/ bend resistance.

I've owned at least one each of "the big three" (Sena, Beyza, and Fortte) at some point, mostly for BBs. My Incredible has Fortte, which is fine. The downside of it is that the phone will pour out of it if you turn it upside down. The Sena's claim to fame is: thin. The Beyza I liked the best. I liked the model you could push the phone upward from the bottom with the corner cut out (no tab dangling from the back to pull on like the Fortte). The phone stays put. For my GN (which I got yesterday) I think I'll hold out for a Beyza. They'll make one soon I'm sure. Skip the screen cover (I've spent $50 on a handful of those too and came to conclusion they're worthless). Just my .02 :)

Amazon has a Qubit bundle with a case, bag, hdmi cable and two screen protectors for $15. I like the bag and the case.

I ordered a slip case from a company called Seaside Sew. I discovered them on Etsy. Lots of pattern options and they are producing a custom case for my Nexus. The price was reasonable. I ordered on Monday and expect to receive the case next week. I'll report back once it's in hand.

Can you PM me the price? I sent an order request as well due to your tip. I want it sized so it can fit my Commuter case too, b/c I'll be damned if that thing is ever coming off :D.

May be useful for everyone, so I'll post here. The price was $15.95 shipped. That was for a custom case for the GN--no flap and no pocket (I wanted a streamlined look). I think you pay a bit more (a couple dollars) if you want the flap and/or pocket.

Hoping my case ships today or tomorrow. Then I can report back next week. The seller has excellent reviews on Etsy, so I'm expecting to like it. :)

Awesome! That's a really good price, I was hoping it'd be less than $30. What fabric did you choose? I went "somewhat professional" and chose English Wool, but I'd be a liar if I didn't mention that I stared at the Arcade Aliens for a good 10 minutes!

I got a cheap one that is working well - body glove universal pouch. I think I picked it up for $4 on amazon.

Honestly, I wanted "Ghosties" :-) Ended up with "Hurley". I also struggled with getting something professional vs. something unique. At one point, I considered needing multiple cases :-)

lmao I almost did the same, but I wasn't sure of the price so I figured I'd hold back.

Thanks so much for the site recommendation though, I can't wait. Post pictures when you get it!
