This assesssment of Apple's achievements under Steve Jobs is awesome. It's toward the end and its by a very clever dev on XDA. Azrienoch knows his stuff and isn't afraid to voice his opinion. He's a founder member of XDA and has millions of dev followers. He's helped me out a few times and is a really nice fella.

Some stuff on WEBOS and HP but the SJ bit is at the end when he gives a real account of what Apple have done. This says evrything about what Apple have really achieved in a few minutes, and azrienoch tells it so weell I had to share in case you missed it.

sorry, the youtube insert not working.

Thoughts?

He's obviously free to have his own opinions but I think he confuses "inventing" with "innovating". It takes a lot more than persuasion to create as many new true markets as apple did, and have demonstrate such amazing sales figures with such "crappy products" or whatever azrien called them. Seems like his same argument could be used for just about anything "A ferrari is innovative, it just takes something that was invented 100yrs ago and sells it for a lot of money"; "Windows wasn't innovative, it just took what was already out there and persuaded manufacturers to put it on their computers so people were forced to use it"...

You don't have to love Apple products, but denying their impact doesn't make much sense.

Beyond that part, his "joke" about Steve's health really crosses the line.
