Goodbye to the HTC One.

Well first of all I didn't trash the HTC One. And maybe I should have been more clear. I couldn't sync my Itunes music which I did with other phones. But like I said maybe someday I will get it again. But I won't come back to this forum. I've learned that if we don't agree then we are stupid or whatever. The people on here who trash other people really need to crawl back under the rock you came from. The other people who post helpful things I appreciate.

Yep, I love this phone. I get *really* da** frustrated with it sometimes... but every time I've gotten angry and frustrated it was because there is NO freaking instructions for the darned thing, and no way to figure it out unless you ask someone else (who might or might not know!).

There is a HUGE, massive, ridiculous learning curve with this phone. Android in general, actually. If you've come from using exclusively iPhones for the last several years like I did, it's really hard to adjust. Fortunately, for every single "problem" I've had, there has been a reasonably simple solution. Or in some cases, where I didn't even think there was a solution to a niggling issue there was a brilliant one. I got SO used to just thinking "Welp, that sucks. Nothing that can be done about it..." on the iPhone, that when I got this I was just inundated by options. It's pretty overwhelming.

So. Anyone that reads these forums thinking they're going to return this gorgeous phone because they "can't" do this or that--- You are wrong. Ask. Keep trying. Keep googling. Call HTC customer service if you have to. Post a question on the forum, even if you feel stupid doing it. Somewhere, someone has an answer for you.

What phone did you go back to if you don't mind me asking?

Are you saying you are trying to use iTunes to sync your music to the phone? Or, are you just trying to sync music that you purchased on iTunes? Are you sure it isn't DRM'ed? I am going to take a wild guess and assume that you are coming from an iPhone and that you ALSO are using a Mac computer. If so, go here, download this: Android.com
This is a transfer tool for mac computers. You open this while your phone is plugged in via usb, and then you will be able to drag and drop files to the appropriate folders (music, photos, etc). You will have to go into the finder window and folder where you have the music/photos stored, select and then drag and drop them into those phone folders. This is the "drag and drop" that everyone is freaking out about.

I'm making wild assumptions that you're on a Mac, because there's no other reason I can think of for why you would be having trouble....

And if by some quirk you WERE/ARE using a PC instead of a Mac, then doubleTwist would be a huge help!

If I couldn't get stuff to auto-sync I'd be gone too. I'm still a bit put off by how much of a pain this is with Android. With iTunes and iOS it's dead simple and something I was apparently taking from granted. I've got it working on my One, but it certainly isn't user friendly.

Why do we constantly get treads like this no matter what phone it is?

No one on here gives a crap about you or that your'e leaving.

I have never heard anything good about the sync programs, but I never understood why anyone would use them. Drag and drop seems much easier if you want to transfer stuff -or using dropbox, etc.

Regarding notification lights - I guess I don't understand the obsession with this. My last phone didn't have any notifcation lights, so maybe I am just used to it, but my phone is basically with me all the time. If I get a call/email/calendar reminder, I hear it. If I am away from my phone for a while, I turn it on and check. That is just me though.

Exactly. I don't know why people still try to use those. Drag and drop worked so fast for me it was pathetic.

Also, the HTC transfer tool (the thing it tells you about when you first turn on the phone) works like magic. It transferred 867 of my pictures, 2,000 contacts and 16 videos in under 10 minutes.

It could have done music if I wanted it to also. But I have tmobile so I don't have to worry about data usage. Thus, I do it all through cloud Google music.

I don't see how it could be easier? That is perplexing.

Some people who are interested in the phone, say, an iPhone user that is accustomed to the simplicity of iOS, might be interested in the difficulties of transferring files, or any of the other reasons the OP mentioned. He did not in any way trash the phone. Merely stated that it wasn't the phone for him and gave valid reasons why. Instead of trashing his intelligence or intellect, wish him luck with his next phone and go on. There is nothing constructive about putting someone down. There have been plenty of times I have had issues with figuring out a new phone. If after a month, I still hadn't figured a phone out, I'd be ready to get rid of it, too. And as for him asking for help, why would he? Why would any new user or bypasser ask for help when seeing how quick you all are to belittle everyone else.

Wow. You should try using an S4! It would make you go insane and start using a coil corded plug-in telephone again!

So many great examples of how NOT to act in this thread. You know who you are.

I seem to be on a thread closing binge because of it. :(
