Google Account Email Address is NOT My Gmail, Gmail App Issue

This is my first android phone, SPrint Galaxy Note 2. My Google Account thus the play store email address is not associated with any gmail email, and I do have a few gmail accounts I want to put in to the stock gmail app. Problem is when I try to start the stock gmail app, it wants to automatically attach to my Google Account email.

Can I delete the app and re-install? How can I run at least 1 gmail account inside the Gmail app when that gmail account is NOT the phone's Google Account email?

Thanks.

I'm not sure if you can but what I would try is adding an additional Google account and pick the one you want to sync Gmail. Again, not sure if that would work but I would try it. If not just add your other account using the email app instead of Gmail. You can definitely add several accounts there.

Scorpio, thanks a lot!

I had not thought of adding Google accounts first, works perfectly.

There should be a way for the Gmail app to know if an email address has Gmail or not, and if not, don't expect in the Gmail app.
