Google account on multiple devices

I recently upgraded my phone and after doing a factory reset passed my old one to my 12 year old son. He's not able to create a google account to access the play store as he's too young, so I used my account to download Pokemon Go for him. However, this now means that he's receiving my gmails on his phone which is far from ideal! Is there a way around this?

I have my Google account on my son's tablet, as well, since it allows him to install games that I have already paid for. The "easy" solution is to go into Settings -> Accounts on his device, then click your gmail account, then uncheck all the Sync options.
