Google Account Questions

I have a friend who is looking to switch to the droid from the Storm (same as I did). I know you need a Gmail account to use on the droid, but can you use an email address that's hosted by google?

For example, his domain, hisdomain.com, is hosted by google. He can get to his email by putting in email@hisdomain.com when he goes to www.google.com/mail.

Will this work on the droid instead of a Gmail account?

If not, is there anyway to auto-sync calendar, contacts, and tasts between the google hosted account, and his gmail account, which he never really uses?

It works exactly the same as if he had a regular gmail account. Here's the Google Apps FAQ:
