Google account, upgrading email address.

I have a Note 4, and my google account is my yahoo email. I got this Vizio Co-Star, that will only accept a gmail account. So I went to Gmail.com, and I get this:

By completing this form, you're upgrading to Gmail, email from Google. Gmail works on any device, blocks spam, and much more.

You'll be able to sign in using your new Gmail address, which will become the primary email address associated with this account. We'll send account updates, invitations, and other notifications to your Gmail address.

xxxxxxxx@yahoo.com will become an alternate email address on this account, and you'll still be able to sign in with it.

If you prefer, you can create a new Google Account with email, and leave this one as-is.

If I do this and my phone uses the yahoo account, am I still able to buy apps, and login with the yahoo account? I know if I upgrade to a gmail account the gmail with be primary. I just want to make sure my phone and playstore and purchased stuff will be the same. Never did this before..

I believe it will mean that you need to use your gmail address as a primary authentication email - so the Play Store, everything would then be converted to the gmail address, but you'd be able to still use the yahoo email address as a way to sign in.

The Yahoo address is an email address, and it's entered in the email addresses, not the Google addresses. You'll have the choice of which account to log in with if you have more than one account showing. (I do, and unless I change the address, it always signs in with the one I chose.)

that makes sense, so if my note 4 is using the yahoo address for google, I should be able to leave it and still continue to login and purchase apps or music if needed.
