Google app lag

Over the last week or two, there seems to be some sort of new lag in my Google App.

When I used to open it, I was able to open it and immediately start typing my search query. Now, when I click on the search bar, the first few letters will appear, it freezes, clears the search bar, and then I have to start typing again from scratch.

Any ideas?

Have you already tried clearing cache for the Google app and reboot the phone?

Yup. I also went into recovery and wipped the entire cache. Same thing.
