AC Question

Hi all,
I've bought a Nexus 5x two weeks ago.
After using it and not being happy with the battery life, I've checked and saw that Google App is eating my battery life due to GPS use.
After trying various online solutions, including erasing cache, denying GPS permission from the app, disable Google Now and clearing app data, No solution seem to work. The sutuation in my device is:
1. GPS location history is off
2. Google App use of GPS is denied
3. Google now is off

Android version 6.0.1
Be haopy to have some help,
Thanks,
Giora.

Welcome to Android Central! Can you clarify--is your GPS radio actually on? Go to Settings>Location, and see if it's set to High Accuracy or Battery Saving. If you don't need precise location all the time, change it to Battery Saving (which uses only the cell signal and wi-fi to estimate your location).

The GPS is set to high accuracy, but is turned off.
I would like it to be accurate when I use navigation apps. But it is turned off for the last few days.
Does Google App uses it even when it's off?
And even when denied permission to do so?

Just to be sure, you are talking about the Google search app and not Google+, right? If it's actually Google+, try turning off Location Sharing (open Google+, tap Menu>Settings>[your account]>Location Sharing, and turn that off.

Yes, we are talking about the Google Search app.
The problem is gone for now, maybe denying location permission from Google A
Search App is working...
Thanks a lot for the help, much appreciated.

Giora.

That's what I had mentioned above--unless you need precise location every second of the day, it's best to keep Location on Battery Saving, and toggle on the GPS radio when you need it (like when you're using the phone for Nav). Unfortunately, I can't explain why the phone is showing GPS usage when you have Location Services turned completely off.
