With all the Note7 safety controversy, I've been wondering if I turn my replacement Note7 in, should I give the iPhone a try.
My big thing is that I use Google products for many things, i.e. Keep, calendar, docs, play movies/music/books, etc. Do these work well on the iPhone or has Apple set it up so out of frustration one is moved to just use Apple stuff?

I think most of the "basic" Google apps can be set up on iOS. When I was on an iPhone 5C I used google maps as my default mapper. I had to set it as the default and it was completely seamless. Youtube is also a good one on iOS, and I still use it today even with my iPhone set up as a wifi-media player. Thats as far as I got though. I didn't set up gmail and I was using iMessage for text-ing.

There's a good article here, and there are probably others too...

How to Get a Perfect All-Google Experience on the iPhone

They are all available on iOS and some people even go as far to say that they run better on iOS though I can't confirm this.

Any Google services you use on Android are also on iOS in an official capacity.

I can vouch for that!!

In particular the web radio streaming apps run MUCH better on iOS. TuneIn radio and iHeart radio are the two I use and on Android they were CONSTANTLY draining 8-15% of my battery in the background, even with permissions deactivated and using apps like greenify and shut-app. A simple radio should not do this. Its understandable that Android apps do run in the background, and this is how the OS works... but a good app shouldn't require that much battery for background stand-by. I have since deleted both apps from my LG V10.

I used to laugh at my co-worker (fellow Android guy) for carrying his old iPhone to work, but he too used it for web radio listening, like I do.

The question was about how Google apps do on iOS... ;)

All the apps work fine. I actually read On my iPad Pro using Google Books and Airplay my Google Play movie collection to my Apple TV.

The movies, music and books tend to be cheaper in the play store, so I buy them there but access them thru my Apple devices.

Though I do own a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, I haven't used it in months.

Hope that helps.

All of the Google apps you listed are available on iOS. All of Google's apps on iOS that I use perform great.

Thanks for the replies. I think, now that I'm turning my Note7 back in, I may give the iPhone a try on this round.
