google assistant not responding in android auto

Hi guys,

I am new here and this is my first question.

Let me jump straightway to the question.

I have 2016 honda civic with android auto. my phone is samsung galaxy s7 edge. when i press the assistant button on my steering wheel, the assistant opens up with its blinking lights , however it does not respond to my voice. the lights just stays open forever until i press cancel or hit the button again. i have reinstalled android auto but in vain. it was working fine earlier . i can confirm that my car's microphone is working .

try going to settings>apps>android auto>storage>clear cache/clear memory. might solve the issue.

Have you disabled Samsung 'S own voice service (S Voice)?

I have this too in my 18 CRV. I only get it to work when I lower the volume in the car. So if you have spotify playing, lower it and then wait for the delayed response to your ok google command.
