I am running 7.1.1 march update. The went through Google permissions and ticked everything that wasn't ticked, cleaned cache and rebooted. Guess I will have to wait and see.

I'm on the 7.1.1 april update myself and I have assistant. I did have to change my device language to English US but i'm guessing your's already is. My marshmallow running lenovo phone also has assistant.

Language is English UK on mine. Will try changing.

Still nothing (assistant nor April OTA).

Changed the language to English US to see if that makes a difference.

Spoke to soon. Rebooted with keyboard set to US and assistant now on my phone. Thanks.
