Google assistant

Yes, finally! Although I did do a factory reset, and it updated after I restored everything. I read on XDA that might help the update. Regardless, I got it.

Haha I contemplated doing that but with 2 kids I don't really have the time to resetup my phone.

When using GA, by hitting the home button, it doesn't open any apps. However, when I use the Allo GA version it does. Is anyone else experiencing this?

CORRECTION: After I uninstalled the Allo app, the GA app, via holding down the home button, now opens all apps.

What do you mean "opens all apps"? Do you mean opens IN all apps? I'm just trying to make sure that I'm not missing out on some functionally

Tell it to open an app and it'll open it. Example, tell it "open Facebook" and Facebook should open.

Google Now still works. You can access it by tapping on the "G" app icon in the google app folder or your app drawer.

I had Allo's Google Assistant version approved for permissions. Apparently when I uninstalled Allo and gave permissions to the long press home screen/"Ok Google" version of Google Assistant it worked. I don't think you can have both versions of GA controlling native functions, i.e. "Ok Google, open the Chomp app."

This what I get on long press from home screen

How do you access Google now on tap with Google assistant?

I use that daily. If it's gone, is there a way to block the update?

You swipe up from the bottom of the screen after bringing up assistant. Looks a little different but still effective
