Google Buzz

Ah, didnt realize that there was a mobile site.
Makes sense, from what I can tell the site version of buzz would only show you your buzzes and people your following buzzes anyways.
To my knowledge you can't go look and search for buzzes around you while on the web. So I'll probably use Google maps buzz more then the mobile site anyways.

It pulls up buzzes which show up on your map...at least on mine...on my droid. The address it shows is you actual location. I went to a restaurant the other day and posted a buzz about the restaurant, and two other people replied within minutes that they liked it too. I think that is the intent of this, not social networking.

You know, Whats the buzz about this place and so forth.

I was scrolling through the map on the droid last night and clicked the "read buzzes" button and everyone who had buzzed that were on the map showed up.

Google updated/added privacy things aswell, which will please lots of people im sure.

Not like it matters to me, I bricked my phone last night :'(

Sweet, this is how I see that it is intended too. I can not wait until my Hero is able to utilize this.

Nobody's buzzing in Washington, DC? Or am I missing something in Maps? All I have to do is select the Buzz layer to display them, right?

You can use Buzz from via the buzz.google.com site from your Hero, been using it for about a week now. It's limited though as it doesn't geo-tag your updates. It also cross posts your updates to Latitude if you're using latitude.

I kind of like Buzz so far, but to be honest, all I do is read the posts that pop up on my map. I haven't posted anything, nor do I really feel the need to, but following others around me is fun, in a voyeuristic kind of way, I suppose.

I have facebook but don't use it often, the way facebook has changed it's privacy settings so many times and makes alot of the stuff opt-out has been turning me off to it. Facebook in my opinion has become a monster and all these third-party applications that are really data miners veiled as little cute games and the like seem to allow your information to be easily given out. I think most people either don't realize that, or want to to be bothered with constantly checking their privacy settings, or simply don't care. For me, I'm under the opinion that there isn't some big conspiracy to catalog all that stuff for some evil purpose. At the same time, I think we should be concerned with privacy and not freely just give out that information. Another turnoff of Facebook is all those stupid applications that people use and click on and just clutters things up.

I just want an outlet for family and maybe close friends for something like a small blog. In fact, part of what I want to do is educate family members about online safety and awareness. Also a place to post comments and pics and the like about the family and kids and such. So I've started to take a look at buzz. Now given my feelings toward facebook does it seem a little silly to even consider buzz? Should I just stick to email? Google is a marketing/advertising company at it's core. However I do like their services. To use those services I am giving up some privacy in exchange. One concern is my google account has all my contacts and personal information and with buzz tied to it, does that make it a little too integrated?

Buzz is pretty neat! I've used both Facebook and Twitter. Facebook is way to intrusive. Twitter is ok but got to be a chore. Buzz is a good way to get local reviews.
