Google Calendar sync and share issues with new phone

I'll try to explain this as clearly as possible. I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 and so does my client. I asked him to share his calendar with me which he did. If I'm on the google calendar via the web I can see all of his calendar entries up until he got his Samsung phone last September. On my phone I checked to make sure his calendar is included but I can't see any of his appts on my phone. He can see every entry on his phone.

He did mention that he uses the Samsung calendar interface as he finds it easier. I went into his phone settings and it appears that both My Calendar and his google calendar are checked. I tried an experiment and opened one of his appts. I changed it from My Calendar to his google calendar and I could now see it on my web calendar. But I still can't see it on my phone.

So my question is - how does he easily change all his entries from the past 7 months to his google calendar while still being able to use the Samsung app. And then how do I get my phone to start seeing them.

Hope I've been clear enough that this makes sense!

Thank you in advance for any help you can give me. I have two other clients I need to set up and I want to make sure I'm doing it right before I start with them!

I don't know of any way to change the existing entries except to do them one by one. But make sure his Google account is set as the default calendar so all future events go there. You might take a look at this thread, but I don't think anyone figured out a better way: http://forums.androidcentral.com/t-...source-calendar-event-once-event-created.html

Can you see his old events, prior to his getting the S3, on your phone? Or only on the web interface? If you couldn't see them before, I don't know that you'll be able to see them now. If you can see his old entries on your phone, then try manually syncing your calendar again.

I was thinking that we might have to do it manually. But was hoping not. Since he likes the interface of the Samsung calendar better than the Google one, there may not be a workaround. Unless there's some way to sync the two. But even then - I can only see the prior events on the web interface. Not on my phone. So there must be something more to it.

In the meantime, I'm going to work with my two other clients - one has an HTC phone and the other just got a Samsung Galaxy S3. but neither of them have ever used calendar before so maybe starting from scratch will work ok. And maybe help me learn something in the process.

He doesn't need to use the Google calendar to get his appointments to sync; there's no problem with using the Samsung calendar with Google. As I said, make sure the default calendar, in the Samsung calendar setup, is set to his Google account. Once that's done, all new appointments will automatically sync with his Google calendar.

As for seeing them on your phone, I suspect the only way to do that is to add his account to your calendar. If you let him enter the account information on your phone, you wouldn't have to see his password. It would enable you to write to his calendar, though, which he might have concerns about.

Thanks! I've been able to get both of the other client's to have their calendar share with no problem. The one that was an issue is exactly what you were saying. He was opening the calendar and putting the entries into My Calendar instead of the one that is linked to his gmail. So we'll have to manually go in and change those. But everyone has given me a share so now I can see all their work related appointments. Yay! Thanks again for your help!
