Google Cast?

I know my 6P has Cast built in but I don't know much about it. Will it work on an HDMI enabled computer monitor or does it have to be a smart TV? Will it mirror what's on my phone or are there only certain apps it will work with? Will it work with my iPad Air2?

I don't want to spend $35 just to find out that it won't do what I want it to do.

If you're talking about $35 for Chromecast, the Chromecast app is free, and it will work.

Can I mirror the image on my phone? For example, if I'm playing a game, will it show up on my monitor? What about texts or my photos or...?

The HDMI enabled monitor will work if your monitor supports HDMI audio pass-through to built in or monitor-connected speakers. Otherwise, may have trouble getting audio to match the video on the monitor - if that's something you want.

Yes, you can mirror what is on your phone. I have a cast button in my quick settings that will display whatever is on my screen.

There is a chromecast app for iOS (I use it regularly) but I don't think it supports screen "mirroring" like on android phones, I think you can only cast things like TV shows and audio.
