Google charges your credit card even though they said they won't until your phone ships

This is just a warning to buyers whom this would cause an issue for. It remains in pending status, but still reduces your available credit/balance.

They put a temporary hold when you first order so they can verify funds. It'll them drop after a few days until you order ships.

Well this is odd... Just checked my Amex, as I knew I'd had a 'pending' charge for the full amount. That's fallen off and is no longer pending, my device was shipped out yesterday, and the card doesn't reflect any charge from Google. Are they not charging until actual delivery? Don't remember it being that way in the past.....

When did you order? I'm considering ordering one but 3-4 weeks, really?!

No promises, but it seems Google is following the wise "under commit, over deliver" mantra. A lot of people originally receiving late November ETA's are evidently getting theirs a good bit earlier. That may change as time goes on, but either way, the sooner you order the sooner you'll get it. That said, Fi seems a great way to go for ordering. Ordered my 32 GB XL Black on the 18th and it's slated to arrive via FedEx on Tuesday (I didn't expedite shipping).

Mine was charged within about half a day of me receiving a shipping notification. I believe they charge it just before it leaves their warehouse and gets passed on to the courier.
