Google Chrome is giving me ads on home screen and when the screen is turned off

[Android Central Question]

Ever since a week ago, I started getting ads from Google Chrome and a Play Store app. I downloaded things like addon detectors and got the Play Store app deleted, though when I tried to look for the Chrome app nothing happened. I tried scanning for malware and things like that, but nothing was found. Chrome is now giving me ads when I have my screen turned on or off and when using apps, or just looking at my home screen. I've tried wiping the cache, deleting all cookies, I've said no to notifications and other solutions from other people. Nothing worked. I can't really find anything that helps me, so I'm more or less, giving up. I'd like to solve the problem without factory resetting my smartphone, but it'll probably come to me, having to factory reset my smartphone. You guys are my last hope of solving it without factory resetting. Hope you can help!

I've already tried that, B. Diddy. It didn't work for me, because it's from Chrome.

Go into the settings for Chrome (3-dot menu in the top right, settings) then tap Notifications. The second section is "Sites". You have 2 options, either don't show notifications from sites at all or select which ones you do or don't want them from and check the boxes accordingly.

Then it's probably not Chrome serving those ads, it's something else tricking you into thinking it is. Are these full-screen ads?

I think I found the culprit... If I did, then Drawing Puzzle Solution - Train Your Brain was the culprit. If I get no pop up ads the next 2 hours, then the case is closed.

Great, glad you tracked it down! Now it's time for a poor review on the Play Store, there's no reason something like that should be posting ads on your lock screen...

Absolutely agree with hallux -- give that app one star on the Play Store and let everyone know that it was serving up those ads. The more often people report this junk, the less successful these apps and ads will be.
