Google Chrome update freezes

Clear cache for the Google play store and reboot your phone. Had an issue as well and that fixed it for me.

Just tried it but no success. It downloads 100% but then just sits there and doesn't install.

Mine was doing that too, (since Thursday) it updated properly today so just give it a little more time.

Yeah mine was doing the same when I got the phone and set up. Just leave it and try few hours later or a day later, it worked fine after that.

Don't go about messing up clearing cache, stopping this or that. It'll resolve itself soon

Have same experience on both Pixel 4 and 4 XL and in both cases it resolved by itself after few hours or within a day without me doing anything.

Likely a little time will sort it out. I had the same issue and was able to resolve it quickly by booting into safe mode and updating from there. Once I booted normally, all was well and Chrome was asking for an update any longer.

This was happening to me on my 2XL a few weeks ago, and yesterday and today on my 4XL for Android Webview.

Clearing cache all on its own for Play Store didn't do it, but clearing bot cache and data did get me updating again properly.

I had the same problem. It eventually worked.

Settings > Apps > All Apps > Select App you want > Storage & Cache. On my Pixel 2 XL anyway.

Are you on wifi? Sometimes in the past when something wouldn't load on LTE I'd turn on wifi and it would load. There is a setting for download apps on wifi only too. That's all I got.

Sorry I misspoke earlier, was no issue on my 4 XL and resolved by itself but on the the smaller 4 I do see it just stuck at install. It's been couple of days, restart and all doesn't work. I don't want to bother with play services clearing cache etc. I leave it for now and see if they push a new update to chrome to overcome this. No hurry to update the chrome anyway.
