Google Chromecast - Note 3 Disconnecting

Well. I thought I knew all of the Android terminology but as my wife would say " I am wrong"
What does pinned mean? Does it mean using a widget?
In google music/Books/movies when you purchase or subscribe you are able to keep a copy of the media on your device. This is called pinning because Google uses a thumnai;l icon on top of the image of the media to indicate the the file isnstored locally.

Ok, so I found a post from another thread with Nexus users having similar issues.

http://forums.androidcentral.com/go...y-music-stopping-when-screen-turns-off-2.html

"I'm running a Gnex with AOKP. I found this thread looking for a solution to a similar problem. My Chromecast wouldn't promptly advance to the next song in the queue when my Gnex was asleep streaming music from my Google Play Music library. It would take upwards of 15 seconds. If I unlocked my phone, it would advance immediately.

My possible fix: I went into my Wi-Fi settings, then advanced settings, and switched off "Wi-Fi Optimization: Minimize battery usage while Wi-Fi is on." I changed that, rebooted my phone, and now have continuous, gapless playback. Hope it works for you other folks."

I was able to find the setting under wifi when I click the menu button. I wanted to share now so others can try. I'll try when I get home tonight and report back. Fingers crossed...

Same exact issue here.
LG G2 on Verizon
Music stops streaming through the Chromecast (and also stops through the phone for that matter) about 2 minutes after the screen shuts off (if I keep the screen on everything works fine).
Changed the wifi settings to pretty much every combination to no avail...
If any one has a solution, it would be huge! I was counting on this to be the primary way to listen to music at home as I'm sure many others are.....

Yep, tried the fix I posted above and still experiencing issues, although it did play longer. Now it's happening on my Note 8.0 which has always worked fine. Wonder if it's an issue with the latest software update...

I am not sure if this is true because I am reading similar issues with LG too, but at least of what I've read, most devices with this issue are Samsung. S4, S2, Galaxy Nexus, Note 5, Note 8, etc. I am currently having that issue with my Nexus 10 which is Samgung too. No problem with my HTC One, Nexus 7, Nexus 7 (2013), ASUS TF700.

What is a Note 5? I want one!

My S3 and Note 2 do not have this problem when the music is not stored on the device. Neither does my Note 8.0. My Note 3 has the problem whether music is pinned or not.

I've ran into this with both my HTC One and my Nexus 7 2013.

It'll play a song or two, then it stops. Or it'll play 15 seconds if a song, pause, then start again, pause, etc.

Very frustrating.

Good news. I think I've found a fix. Install the REGPON wifi KeepAlive app: https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...=jp.miraidou.regpon.wifi&hl=en&token=TFnIFN9r

Using this app, I've played Google Music on my Note 3 through Chromecast with the screen off with no disconnects for over an hour. I would uncheck the boxes in the app, turn off the screen, and my phone would disconnect within a song or two just like it was doing before. I would recheck the boxes, and the music would play again without interruption.

Please give it a try and report whether it works for you.

For the price, I'm eyeing this to replace my N4 as a backup phone.

So far this app works for me :D
Thanks

Seems to work for me, though I did notice every once and a while it would still shut off. Much better though. Thanks!

I found this Possible "wifi unstable" fix : GalaxyNote3

Which ended up solving this problem for me. I've got an AT&T Note 3. So depending on your carrier this may or may not work for you.

Basically you dial *#0011# to bring up "ServiceMode" hit the menu button and choose WiFi. Then turn off WIFI Power Save Mode.

It's been working great for me since I made the change.

The same code worked for me on my T-Mobile Note 3. We'll see if it makes a difference, but it's worth a shot. Thank you for sharing!

Verizon updated my Note 3 tonight. I am running Google music from my phone to Chromecast with the Regpon wifi app off without issue for the first time. I'm only about five songs in, but feeling optimistic. It's never gone this long before without the app.

This is constantly happening with G2 and G phones. Plays maybe a song and disconnects. Updated the CC last night but, it didn't help. Other music works just fine, Pandora, Spotify, etc. just an issue with Play Music. Kind of frustrating really.
