Google connectivity services question

I am currently using a pixel XL and a couple weeks ago I got an update in the play store for the google connectivity services app and now my phone will randomly get notifications that the WiFi is scanning for networks..My phone never did this until this update. Is this bad? Is it draining battery ? Is their any way to disable this? Thanks in advance

Not sure if this is the same thing, but go to Settings>Location, tap Menu>Scanning, and turn off Wi-fi Scanning there.
