Android Central Question

Google accounts, along with "phone", used to be an option for default storage of contacts. Only phone is default option, even though my google account and others is still listed (and bubbled in) under "accounts" and "add account" under manage account. When I try to add it again and sign in to my account, I get a message that "this account already exists on your device". Also, "add/remove linked accounts" used to show several google accounts in addition to phone, exchange, etc, but now only shows phone and Verizon Cloud (which I don't even actively use and theres nothing in it!). The Google contacts app shows "no contacts in this account" with a note that "there are 188 contacts in your other accounts". the Google contacts icon with an embedded chrome overlap icon shows all my google contacts that are on my computer but not ones I've added via phone and no option to link. Auto-sync on Google Contacts Sync is grayed out

Welcome to Android Central! Just to be clear -- when you go to Settings>Accounts, select your Google account, then Account Sync, the Contacts toggle is greyed out there?
