Google draining battery

For the last couple of days it looks like Google is running in the background even if I put app to sleep. It always on top of everything else. What exactly does this app do?? If I disable would I still be able to use the Google assistant?

Have you been using the Google app for podcasts, Android Auto, or other similar activities lately?

Try clearing the Google app's cache and data and see if the problem persists.

Tap it and see if you can turn background process? If you disable Google app you won't have Google assistant or Google feed

Mine showing the same thing after update. I just cleared the cache and restarted, we'll see how it goes!

Well, Google showing in 4th behind the apps I've actually used, getting better, probably still showing the usage from yesterday before I cleared cache and restarted since it says last 24 hours.
