Google Drive Question

Is there a way to save files to my smartphone? I uploaded a bunch of pictures from my pc to Drive and can view them on my phone, but is there a way to store them on my sd card from there, or am I stuck only using the files within Drive? I see options to use the files as texts, email etc but no option to save to the phone. I also tried locating the files using Astro File Manager but they don't seem to be anywhere on the phone/sd card.

You can make the files available offline. There is a menu option for that. But I don't know where they get stored.

Another idea is to use an app like FolderSync : https://forums.androidcentral.com/e....tacit.android.foldersync.full&token=AOo2aBeM

It will sync or do a one way pull/push of folders and files from/to many cloud services. I use it with Dropbox and SkyDrive. It has a Google Docs option, but hasn't been updated to use Google Drive yet.

There is no export feature, like in Dropbox. In Dropbox, you can use the export feature to save to SD card.

Unfortunately, Google Drive's feature set isn't there yet.

I was able to do it in a roundabout way. When I opened a picture via the Drive app, it asked me what app I wanted to use to view it, I chose QuickPic. After the picture opened, I selected menu, more, copy to and then chose a folder on the SD card.

I've only done this one picture at a time. I agree, Google Drive still has a way to go.

The offline files are stored in sdcard/Android/data/com.google.android.apps.docs/files/pinned_docs_files_do_not_edit/a folder with a bunch of numbers/'your file'

Some items its not letting me open. IE some pdf documents unless I open them from inside the gdrive/offline folder. If I navigate to the file and try to open it then it wont read it.
I was able to export some zip files to another folder though.

Program doesnt work same as dropbox.

+ Gdrive is supported now. Just select google docs.
I have a couple pairs set up and it works great.

johnejohn, yep, you're right, Google Drive works with FolderSync now, great!

I like how FolderSync can do a full sync (as a way to stay synced with Dropbox) or just a download (say you want to transfer music to your phone) or an upload (say you want to backup your phone's photos).

Kind of a necro, but I see a lot of people still trying to figure this out. I suggest using Google Drive Download.
