Has anyone here tried Google duo yet? I just tried it out, it really is very easy to use.

Yes. I've been playing with it for several weeks, but last night's release is pretty well polished. Finally got to talk to my wife instead of strangers.

I just used it to video chat with my mother. Not bad however the handoff of the app when you're switching between 4g LTE and WiFi isn't too smooth in my opinion.

Tried it for a minute with my fiancee (who is on an iPhone). Works great but we were both in an area with good WiFi. Will be interesting to see how it performs when I have to rely on cell coverage.

It works well but like I said, the transition from 4g to wifi seems like it takes longer than it should.

With solid wifi, it's great. But anything less than solid, it won't connect and I have to go back to FB Messenger's video chat.

I'd like to figure using it but also how popular is video chatting really?

I like it more than phone calls with my family, everyone else I'd rather text.

I usually do texting and I have a work iPhone that I use for FaceTime. I rarely use it. Maybe a few minutes a month.

I mean the simplicity if duo is nice, as long as Google can iron out the smoothness of the transition from 4g to wifi. That's one of the big selling points. Duo doesn't have too many other advantages. It's just simple and basic. Doesn't do group video chatting either.

I have used it for a quick call with my wife and it seems to work pretty well. Now if I just get my family and friends to install it so I can try it out with other people.

I am hoping Google eventually integrates this into the Phone or Messenger apps

I don't think they will, that's what the allo app will be for as far as I can tell.

Voice calls are coming soon (tm) to Duo, kinda sorta exist in Allo already. Allo has a button that lets you switch to Duo pretty easily.

Google has had beta testers for awhile now for both apps, I've seen a few others "slip" when they referred to the app in the present tense as well.

And of course we'd all love to know some answers like - does it do SMS? But we don't want them breaching any NDAs in the process.
