Google Experience Launcher for the Nexus 4

Same here. The power toggles widget was 4x1 and centered perfectly on my home screen. Now with the Google Experience Launcher the widget is 3x1 and will no longer center on the home screen, it's ether moved to the far left or far right and there is no option to resize it or center it. I guess if I want to use the GEL I'll have to find and use a different power toggles widget, I know they're out there so that shouldn't be an issue. But yes, I think this must be normal...no resizing option available right now that I've seen.

I don't know why people even want this. I have a Nexus 5 and this launcher made me want to install Nova Prime asap. No customization or scrolling of the dock, big honking icons, and annoying window arrangement. If you like options, you will not like this launcher.

Some of my 4X1 widgets such as Beautiful Widgets weather, somehow changed to 3X1. I haven't figured out a way to re size them. Is this normal?

I had the same problem with my weather widget as well. I removed it and read did it, but it still came back 3x1, but after adding it back a long press on it gave me the resize option and I could stretch it to 3x2, 4x2, 4x3 or 4x4. Hope that works for you.

I had the same problem with my weather widget. Initially it was the wrong size and had no option to resize. After I removed it then added it back it still was the wrong size BUT the long press gave me the resize option. Hope that helps.

Thanks I will try this and see if it works.

I'm still on JB and havent gotten Kit Kat yet. I loaded the launcher this evening and it seems to work okay however I got some on type of image distortion on the upper left hand side of the screen as you can see the attached picture. At first this didn't happen but after I turn the phone off and rebooted it the strange "image" appeared.

Also, how does one make the Google Experience launcher the default launcher? And if I do want to switch back to the stock launcher how do i do so?

When you press home button for the first time after installing your new launcher, you should get a prompt asking which launcher to use. There should be two options, they read something like "Always" and "Just this time". If you select a launcher, and press "Always" - from now on this launcher will be your default one.

To revert back to your previous launcher, go to Settings->Apps->select your current launcher app from list, and there you find a field labelled "Launch by default" and a button "Clear defaults". After clearing defaults from an app, you will be asked again to select your default app on first use (in case of launcher: on first press of home button).

I think that's new to Kit Kat. For those still on jelly bean, I think that Martin's direction is the way to do it.

Is anyone else having the issue of Google Search not allowing you to place widgets on the GEL home screens at all? My Google Search just keeps force closing on me every time I try.
I'm a Nexus 4 user, and I have a Nexus 7. My Nexus 7 has no issues whatsoever with me placing widgets wherever I want them. But my Nexus 4 won't let me place hardly any widgets on the home screen, not even a the Battery Widget, which only takes up one space. Even when I uninstalled and re-installed Beautiful Widgets, it still wouldn't let me place any of them. My phone got 4.4 yesterday, and I re-installed the GEL home launcher, hoping the non adding widget bug would be fixed with KitKat.. to no Avail. I really like the Launcher, but I will have to uninstall it if I can't get the same functionality as I could with my original home screen.
I've reported the bug several times to Google.. but I'm hoping maybe you guys have a suggestion?

Well I finally got Kit Kat!! Interested in trying out the GEL, but, not quite sure yet.

I would like to use the Nexus 5 default wallpaper though, any suggestions to find that?

Just checking - if I load the launcher this way, it's just like adding any other launcher? If I don't like it, I can remove it?
I only want to try it out.

You can uninstall other apps you installed on your phone, so this isn't anything different.

First, go to settings>security>unknown sources and make sure this option is check marked.

Using your phone, download the GEL using the link provided in the first post. After it is downloaded either go to your download folder and tap on the file, or pull down the status bar and tap the notification informing you download is complete. From there it will install on its own.
