Google Experience Launcher for the Nexus 4

Isn't the transparency feature supposed to extend all the way to the bottom of the screen where the back/home/multitask buttons are? For me, its only going up to the status bar.

The same thing happened to me once with GEL. Rebooted the phone and then transparency came back at the bottom.

Is anyone else having the issue of Google Search not allowing you to place widgets on the GEL home screens at all? My Google Search just keeps force closing on me every time I try.
I'm a Nexus 4 user, and I have a Nexus 7. My Nexus 7 has no issues whatsoever with me placing widgets wherever I want them. But my Nexus 4 won't let me place hardly any widgets on the home screen, not even a the Battery Widget, which only takes up one space. Even when I uninstalled and re-installed Beautiful Widgets, it still wouldn't let me place any of them. My phone got 4.4 yesterday, and I re-installed the GEL home launcher, hoping the non adding widget bug would be fixed with KitKat.. to no Avail. I really like the Launcher, but I will have to uninstall it if I can't get the same functionality as I could with my original home screen.
I've reported the bug several times to Google.. but I'm hoping maybe you guys have a suggestion?

Try uninstalling and reinstalling GEL. Sounds like something may have barfed during the install.

I believe it should, yes. I'm running the beta of Nova Launcher (which supports transparency) and it works fine on mine. Weird.

I've got a nexus 4 with Kitkat updated....this GEL works fine....but why can't I add more home screens to it....even I tried holding the icon at the tip of the screen so that it automatically creates a new home screen...

You can, just drag the app shortcut all the way to the right

Regarding transparency - I noticed that it works fine if you use the native wallpaper. If you are using a photo selected from your picture gallery it does not seem to work as well. The first time I did it the transparency did not extend all the way to the bottom. However, I rebooted the phone this morning and it extends and a little further down but not all the way. I am not sure why does this.

Also, if you select a wallpaper from the picture gallery, the wallpaper does not center on the main home screen like it shows in the preview. You have to move the picture slightly less than half way to the right so that it is centered on the main home screen.

I've uninstalled and re installed the GEL Home application 4 times already. I've uninstalled and re-installed (And lost my settings and saved themes) Beautiful Widgets also to see if that was the issue. It wasn't. It still gives me that error every time I try to place most widgets. The only widget I've been able to use so far are my Moon Phase pro, My Daily Horoscope app, and the Vine app's capture Function. It literally won't let me place anything else.
Guess i'll just have to uninstall it and just use the normal launcher until the Barfing stops. heh.

Weird. You can always try a third party launcher like Nova. The beta has the transparency of the GEL, you can opt in and start the process on the G+ community page.

I would recommend trying the beta version of Apex Launcher.... it too has transparency.
