Google Hangout SMS issue

I recently received the update for the hangout SMS. When I went to set it up I used my Verizon number. How do I change it over to my Google voice number?

I heard it works for Sprint only, but I'm not sure..

Maybe try switching it in your google dashboard. Dashboard> manage account> phone numbers>view. It has both my carrier number and GV number listed. I have my carrier number checked for hangouts right now.
