Google has terrible history

Hi all. I recently got a Droid Razr M with Android 4.1.2. When using the Google Search app (the one you access by swiping from the bottom), its history totally fails. It lists 3 searches from days/weeks/months ago and randomly updates them. It has no search recommendations and remembers nothing (besides randomly remembering a search, which is extremely infrequent).

I've tried turning on/off Google Now and turning on/off linking with my Gmail account, and nothing worked.

Thoughts?

Are you using it to search or other browsers where you're logged in to Google while searching?

Hmmm? Not sure I understand your question. When using the app, it opens the results within the app, and once you click on a link it opens up in your default browser (which, for me, is Chrome).

EDIT: Were you asking whether I'm actually using the app to search or if I'm going to google.com on another browser to search? I'm using the app.

Using the Google search app on my old Droid Incredible 2, it remembers your search. Just like Google does. If you go to search and type in the letter "a", it will recommend your most recent searches beginning with letter "a. If you start typing something you've searched before, it will remember and instantly suggest it.

The old app did this. The new app does not. It seems inane that they would remove this feature. Isn't this half of what makes a good search engine? And it seems like it's trying, as it chooses to remember searches here and there.
