My battery life has went from great to horrible, I noticed that Google maps seems to always be running even after I turn it off it will be on again. My locations and history are off. It is using close to 40% of my battery, anybody know how I can fix this?

When you say locations are off, do you mean Location Reporting or the whole Location Services option?

So for the time you've been using the phone in that screen (from 100% down to 71%), had you been using Google Maps at any point for a good amount of time? Or have you been leaving Maps alone for this entire battery cycle?

I have not used maps for anything during that time. This is something that I haven't had a issue with until the last couple weeks. My battery seems to dropping fast and I'll check and maps will be running.

Try going to Settings>Apps>All, select Maps, and Clear Cache/Clear Data, then Force Stop. See if that does anything.

Clearing data is only local, so any settings you adjusted will return to default for Maps, and any maps you cached for offline viewing will presumably be erased. Since Maps syncs with your Google account, you shouldn't lose any personal information.

I've just had a great spike of data usage from Chrome today, background data, well over a gigabyte. I used Chrome briefly earlier but my entire usage for the previous 15 days was only about 310Mb, then the huge inexplicable jump today. How I laughed when I saw it. Anyway I just wanted to say that clearing cache and data in the Chrome app did not cause the loss of anything important, if that reassures you. Doing the same recently in Gallery caused no loss of photos.
