This is a widespread issue. Even other GPS apps and such--Sygic--are having this issue.
I've personally reported it (twice lol), but who knows if it's even within their purview, so to speak.
I was driving from NY to DC just yesterday. I had my Galaxy Nexus with me. Google Maps
was showing me heading in the wrong direction on I-495 near Bethesda. It freaked me
out a bit because I'm not British and I'm not a 90-year-old who drives in the wrong direction.
I was driving westbound on the outer loop when the map showing me moving eastbound
on the inner loop!!!!!
About an hour later, it showed my current location as in the middle of the Potomac
River when I was standing inside the terminal at DCA.
Sure hope Google get this fixed ASAP!!!
I'm in the DC area myself; was using it last night (when the issue first occurred) trying to find food/gas after that storm...needless to say I damn near killed myself (twice).
Also, this is happening on all sorts of roms too...Jelly Bean, AOKP (ICS), Liquid (ICS), CM9, etc. At first we (people in the GN forums, RW, etc.) thought it was a JB issue, but alas, it is not. I thought it was the new update, so I got an old maps apk and tried that...same deal.
So for now...we wait.
I have a feeling that the Google Maps isn't the main cause of this problem. Other map and
GPS apps have been giving me wrong data as well. Perhaps Google updated something
else without telling us?
Could be, or there's something actually wrong with the GPS system it uses (satellites, etc.)
I said this in another thread, but I think it's valid:
Alien invasion.
Did Apple file another lawsuit to prevent Android devices from using GPS satellites?
Apple's spokesperson will announce on Monday that Apple holds the patent because
they thought of using GPS on smartphones first.![]()

Is this inaccuracy an on-again, off-again situation? Right now both my son's Maxx (w/ ICS) and my Bionic (w/ .905) show 'my location' to be in the correct corner of the house depending on which room we're in!
I used Google Map navigation through winding VA roads for a couple hours last week with nary a glitch.
Just lucky? Or...?
