I have a Samsung Galaxy S8 and I have always used google messages. I am on Tmobile in the US and have all available updates (android 9). recently I noticed i can send a message to someone and the reply comes back as a new group, with their name and my name. Then if I try and reply it will not work. It looks like it works but the messages are never sent. I can go back to the group without my name and send messages just fine. I have the RCS enabled since it was allowed. Any ideas what is causing this?

Try clearing the app cache/data for the Messages app in Settings>Apps, then force stop it and then open it again.

I did that and even rebooted but google pulled all my history of conversations so all the ones with me added are still there and still blocking me from sending. I am not sure what else to do. I also tried deleting the app and re adding but same thing no change.

I still cannot reply to the conversations with my name/phone number in the group. I will leave it off and see if I get any new groups, it might be fixed but still leave the "broken" groups in my history. If no new broken groups appear when people message me then it is a win!

The real answer is probably to replace my Galaxy S8 phone.

I see the option to join so I presume I did not. At least I don't remember joining it
Yeah, you're not on it if you have the option to join. Was curious because I was having this issue too on my S22 Ultra and I think uninstalling the beta fixed it. (For me it seemed to occur when people sent me pictures ...)

Hopefully you can figure it out. I know how frustrating it is

I think it is an issue with RCS, I have not seen a new message with my name added upon replies to my text messages. Thanks for all the help everyone.
