I read that the default message app for the S22 series is not a re-skinned Google Message.

Coming from a Note 20 U and fairly happy with the look and performance of Samsung Message app, I was wondering peoples thought, opinions, coomplaints on Google Message.

I haven't used Google Message in a long time but haven't gone S22U yet but curious about it and maybe will install it on my N20U and try it and try to get use it if I plan to moved to S22U in near future.

I just installed Gboard to give that another try the other day because a friend said it's much better than Swiftkey for him now as far as accuracy. Trying for a day I also see this and will stick with it but some things I don't like that where there before I think... I hate you can't customize the toolbar to get rid of button for GIF finder and Stickers... Why force those on the toolbar when I am not a 13 year old using stickers. Hoping Message is not like that too.

It comes down preference. I don't like anything Samsung apps and prefer Google/Microsoft etc since I can use them across all my devices. So I like Google messages and the Samsung customized Google messages on the S22 Ultra is great. But you don't have to use that if you don't like. Samsung messages also comes in the phone so you can use that instead of Google messages if you prefer Samsung messages and apps.

Thanks for info... so Samsung messages still comes in the phone? Good to hear there is a fallback. I wanna like Google Messages cause you can have it running on your PC desktop. I tried it I think but just didn't like the app on my phone enough to keep it for that. But its been years so I wanna see what it's like again. I'm really surprised how well typing is working on Gboard over Swipe after not using that for year. I like having WhatsApp desktop app running on my PC or Mac so I don't have to use my phone when at the desk.

Samsung Messages is nothing special but like you said it comes down to preferences and been happy with Messages with a clean ui and pretty simple interface.

I actually shy away from anything Samsung app myself now a days... Just uninstalled Samsung Pay (no need for MST anymore) after wiping my N20U OS clean after getting it back frorm a screen replacement. Disabled Bixby the moment I got my Note 8 and then on my N20U. Garmin over Samsung Health. SwiftKey(Gboard now) over Samsung Keyboard, etc.

But, the one praise I will give them and is my main app on Android... Samsung Internet Browser is the best Android browser!

I think Samsung Internet Browser is there best app they've kept going, period.

The UI is just more featured pack and useable and even more laid out then FiireFox and Chrome to me and it's fast that I don't mind there is a disconnect over my other platforms using FireFox on my PCs and MacBook Air and Safari on my iPad Pro and iPhones lol.

Yeah if you just liked the UI of the Samsung messages then you are in luck, the Google messages on the S22 Ultra just looks like Samsung messages just that backend uses Google servers etc with all the Google messages features. So you might like it on S22 Ultra but you have option as mentioned earlier.

Yeah I always have used Gboard and that works the best for me. I try others but always come back to it.

For browser, I personally use chrome. All the performance issues of chrome are in the past and on recent flagships it runs like a charm. The main reason I just chrome is cross platform and I use that on all my Android phones, iOS, Mac, Windows you name it and everything sync's and works great.

Samsung browser is great, I'll give you that. With all the great features, ad block, and what not but I like to use something which I can use on any platform and phone/Mac/Windows etc. Yes there is a way to sync up Samsung browser data on other platforms but not elegant in my opinion and it's just not my preference. But Samsung browser and apps has it's fans, many only prefer Samsung apps over Google and that's their choice.
