Google messages chat stalled on verifying phone number

My S22+ has been stalled on verifying phone number since the 12L update.
Is then any work around?

Have you tried clearing Google Messages app cache and force stopping the app? Then try again?

Check your phone number is listed in the About phone option in settings. It needs that number on the Sim card to verify it.
