Google Messages: Mark text as read when I reply from the status bar.

Is there any way you can have the Google messages app mark a text as read when I reply from the status bar? I know you can swipe and dismiss the notification but I can't be the only one that can't sleep at night knowing that that text notification I dismissed is quietly sitting in the app still marked bold and unread... Replying from the status bar is nice but pointless when I still have to go into the app to mark it as read.

If you have the app set to "quick answer" mode when replying from the notification bar, try switching it to "full app" instead, assuming that is an option.

That is not an option. I'm not even sure that is a real thing. It is the stock texting app on the Nexus and pixle phones.

It was worth a try. Third-party SMS apps do that.
