Yeah, I noticed this a couple of days ago (my RCS is incredibly unreliable for some reason, so I have to keep an eye on it). I thought it was an odd change... It doesn't bother me, but I can see people being confused by it.

I like it the way it was before "Read" Google dont make this complicated

If I wasn't specifically watching for it to deliver because half of the time it doesn't, I wouldn't have known what it meant.



I got it when I watched the first tick light up then the second a few seconds later, but it really isn't very intuitive at all. It's exactly what I would expect from Google lol.

I noticed it pop up yesterday after sending a message from my S22u. My first thought was, 'Oh, now what'!

I have to watch my RCS closely also. It seems like forever before a message finally delivers.

It's like sitting in front of a slot machine, watching the dials spin, anticipating the conclusion. Will it send or fail?

There was no reason to change this. The old method with a simple descriptive word was perfect. Must have been a slow day for the RCS group.

I am only using sms/mms with Google Messages App, and I don't seem to get the coloured circle checkmarks. I get the circle checkmarks, but only just simple stencil ones. They don't seem too bad for me. I did notice it the other day and thought there was a glitch, two circles half overlapping each other. Good to have the full explanation.

It sucks you also have to put up with this, but I'm kinda glad it isn't just a me problem.

I think I'm going to actually put a little effort into finding a solution... If I have any luck I'll report back.

Hi!

Yes, problems on both mobile & wifi.

~I have force stopped Google Messages, cleared cache & restarted my s22U.

~Tried with:
Both mobile data & wifi on
Only wifi on (mobile data toggled off)
Only mobile data on (wifi toggled off)
Switching between Lite & 5g
Taking case off
Closing AdGuard
Resetting settings under general management
Standing by a window

Husband also has an unlocked s22U on same mobile & wifi networks with no issues with Google messages RCS.

I'm down to trying safe mode, getting a new sim card or factory resetting phone & starting over.

I actually wonder if it might be hardware related. Husband gets much better reception period. I went to T-Mobile just before getting my s22U & got a new sim card, which worked fine in my Note20U. I probably should have traded the s22U on an s23U, but I paid full price for the s22U & with the low trade-in amounts, it was not a smart financial move.

I should try safe mode tomorrow so I can rule out an app conflict!

I'm about to turn off RCS because I don't personally like read receipts. I have a couple of people who text me and I don't want them to think I am ignoring them if I don't respond right away after reading their messages.

Apparently you can still use RCS but turn off read receipts. I just found that out.

I always turn read receipts off. Like you I don't want people to know if I have read their text
