I can't get it to connect for chat anymore. It was fine when I first got my S22 Ultra and now it won't connect for chat services. It always says "trying to verify" . I've searched the internet for a solution and there are so many people with all different solutions that I don't know what to try, or do nothing. I've read that switching between Google Messages and Samsung Messages may do this, which I was doing to see which one I liked better, and now I'm just stuck. Has anyone successfully gotten past this?

You'll have to try some of the stuff but also make sure no VPN they can mess with that.

Did you have a prior phone using chat features? It's been a while, but I'm remebering reading something about not toggling off chat features on an old phone before swth=ching to a new phone. I think the issue you're having was the possible result if you didn't.

If you still have the prior phone, switch your SIM card to it and dfiable the chat features on it. Then switch the SIM back and try to activate it again on your new phone.

I don't know why there would've been a lag before you started having the issue, but if you have the old phone it's easy enough to try this possible fix, even if it's a long shot.

Thanks for the SIM card idea! I traded in my old phone but I kept the SIM card and just tried it. Chat was already disabled. I think I'm going to try turning off chat and waiting the 10 days I keep reading about and see if that works. Or maybe I'll just go back to my nicely themed Samsung Messages when I'm done with trying to figure out all this nonsense...lol

If it just started to day it may have something to do with a lot of Google's services being down. I know Maps, Gmail, and some others are having issues today.

No, unfortunately it didn't start recently. It's been at least a couple weeks. Thanks for the reply.

Well, I got it connected and working again. I went into my Google account settings and deleted my phone number there, then re-added and verified it, cleared app cache and all data, and now chat services is again connected.
