google messanger notification wont show up on samsung led case

From what I know about that case, it only gives notifications for missed calls and text messages from Samsung's own txt msg app. Im not sure if a 3rd party txt msg app like Handcent will give notifications. Other internet messaging apps are not compatible (i.e. hangouts, whatsapp).
