Google Messenger in Chrome?

Is anyone aware of an extention that allows me to sync Google Messenger on my phone and in my Chrome browser? I know Hangouts and a couple of other 3rd party SMS apps do it (MightyText, etc) but curious if there is a way to use Google Messenger on my laptop on occasion. I like Hangouts but am wary of getting to tied into it since Google has started promoting Messenger for SMS.

Me to i want this feature! i thought hangouts may but no.... don't want to use 3rd party like Mighty text to cumbersome.
