I think I can help. Do you have any local music files on your phone or your micro SD card? If so, are they also uploaded to Google Music via the music manager?

Ok. I had the same exact issue. When I updated the app, it kept crashing. After countless hours/days of trying to fix it, we finally found a solution that worked. Long story short, prior to getting my S4, I have always used Google's Music Manager to upload all of my songs / playlists from iTunes to Google Music (i was an avid iPhone user prior). That said, when I got my S4, I downloaded DoubleTwist and used airsync to transfer all of my iTunes onto my phone (locally). I wasn't aware at the time that I could access google play from the S4. So in essence, I had two of everything (one on Google's cloud music and one locally).

Basically, what I had to do was format my micro sd card and re-mounted it back to my s4. After doing so, I re-downloaded the updated and voila!! It worked. So try this and let me know if it works for you.

In regards to the update, I noticed in the play store that it was indeed updated today. It just hasn't pushed out to my device yet. I'm guessing it takes time. At this point, since I got everything working, I'm sort of hesitant to update in case it starts acting up again.

ok thats what ill do and ill follow up with you on that...as far as the update thou if it doesnt work, you can always reset the app itself back to factory and youll be good to go :)

I just updated to the latest version. Here's what I noticed.

1. I saw the "Google Play has stop responding" message AGAIN!!!!! Only saw it once. So I cleared google play's cache and rebooted my phone. Hasn't appeared since.
2. I noticed 2 of my playlists that I created showed up as an empty playlist on my phone. I deleted it (from my phone). Noticed it also deleted from the web. Re-created it from the web and it appeared on my phone.

So as of now, it looks pretty stable. If these issues continues, I'm definitely cancelling my trial and sticking with Spotify.
